OCS Worldwide - a brief history
OCS Worldwide was established in 1957 to provide a daily newspaper service for Japanese Businessmen around the world. Since then OCS Worldwide has expanded its Worldwide Express Network to over 250 offices in 210 countries and 45000 staff members, providing a truly personal service with a global reach. With the cooperation of leading Japanese newspaper publishers, OCS was founded as an overseas distributor of Japanese newspapers and latter evolved into a highly respected courier service. Overseas operations began in San Francisco (United States of America) and quickly expanded all over the world – today OCS serves its customers in 251 cities and 210 countries worldwide. Since being founded all OCS worldwide stations consistently maintain four basic principles :

History

September 1957 Founded in Tokyo as the sole international transporter of

newspapers with the support of Asahi, Mainichi, Yomiuri

and Nikkei.

September 1959 Osaka Main Office is opened

July 1967 Nagoya Office (renamed as Nagoya Branch in

September, 1994) is opened.

December 1969 Kobe Office is opened.

February 1978 Narita Office (renamed New Tokyo International Airport

Branch in September, 1994) is opened in accordance with

the opening of Narita International Airport.

May 1983 Yokohama Office is opened.

October 1984 Ginza Office (transferred to Kyobashi in September 1989,

then to Nihonbashi in September 1991) is opened.

July 1985 Osaka Honcho Office (transferred to Kouraibashi in April

1993) is opened.

September 1985 Hiroshima Office is opened.

October 1986 Fukuoka Office is opened.

April 1987 Hamamatsu Office is opened.

June 1987 Baraki Office (transferred and renamed to Narita

Secondary Office in June 1991, and merged with Narita

Office in February 1994) is opened.

February 1989 Shinjuku Office is opened.

April 1991 Kyoto Office is opened.

November 1991 Atsugi Office (merged with Yokohama Office in May 1996)

is opened.

September 1994 Kansai International Airport Office is open in accordance

with opening of Kansai International Airport.

June 1996 Kawasaki Office is opened

August1996 Shibuya Office (merged with Shinjuku Office in January

2000) is opened.

6. Japanese & International newspapers and magazines
In addition OCS Worldwide also provides Japanese magazine subscriptions, books, comics (Manga) , text books and stationery, English – language books on Japan. Japanese publications are imported, including some government periodicals and journals. Courier shipments and Global Mail can be dropped off at this location. Managing the interface between a publisher and their subscribers.
OCS Worldwide Media collects subscription revenues, keeping the data lists clean, fulfiling and delivering special offers and free gifts from the publisher, as well as cross selling publications and gaining renewals from soon to be lapsed customers.
